There is a lot of talk about letter writing on Twitter, and the other day I stumbled on this ‘carrier pigeon’ from the LWA (Letter Writer’s Alliance). While at first I was thinking this was so cool, I’m not sure how thrilled I would be to open up my mailbox to find a pigeon?! The first time it might be a little creepy! While you can’t mail it internationally — though, I wish it did so that I could send it to my pen pal in Canada — it mails for just $2.45 each time. And YES! You can purchase refill kits.
The initial Pigeon Post Kit includes:
1 Pigeon (plastic, not real folks!)
3 Pigeon Post message forms
3 mailing label pouches
Instructions on how to mail
Postage for one mailing
What is the Letter Writer’s Alliance? The Letter Writers Alliance is a membership organization dedicated to keeping the art of letter writing alive. This website has both public and member only sides, with only a limited amount of items available to the public. Membership is open to anyone interested in letter writing. The LWA blog is open to everyone, members and non-members alike.
It’s a fun site and I love the idea of it all (even the shocking pigeon in the mailbox).
